Start with the city center and the west side
Warren Avenue and East Church Avenue help you find your way around the historic center. The Bradlee-McIntyre House is a Queen Anne house and museum at 130 West Warren Avenue. Reiter Park and the SunRail station are nearby places to visit.
Markham Woods Road is farther west. It is a useful starting point for Alaqua, Alaqua Lakes and Wingfield North. A Longwood mailing address does not always mean the home is inside the city.
The city resident guide explains how to check the property’s tax district. “L1:Longwood” means it is within city limits.
Choose the setting and the upkeep you want
- The historic center: compare older homes, layouts, parking and past repairs. Check the historic district information. Confirm approval rules with the city before planning outside changes.
- The Springs: includes villages such as Glenwood and Whispering Pines, plus Crown Oaks I and II condos. Its private spring and waterfront are community features. Ask which association maintains each part of the home.
- Alaqua Lakes: a gated golf community where the course and nature preserves shape the setting. The Legacy Club has separate membership terms.
- Alaqua: a separate community with varied home styles, a wooded setting and its own country club. Do not combine its club or HOA details with Alaqua Lakes.
- Wingfield North: detached homes off Markham Woods Road near the Wekiva River basin. It is separate from Wingfield Reserve.
Explore Longwood homes once you know which settings fit your plans.
Start school planning with the address
Start with the exact home address in SCPS School Zone Search. A nearby school or a school named in a listing is not a promised assignment.
Then follow the SCPS enrollment steps. Check SCPS school choice options if you want a magnet, transfer or other option. Use the school guide for school names, grades and the steps to take.
Gather school records and proof of residence early. Confirm the start date and travel plan with the school.
Test both driving and rail
Longwood SunRail station is at 149 East Church Avenue and has parking. Use the SunRail timetable for both directions. Add the trip between the house and station, and between the final station and work.
Try the drive from each home at the time you normally travel. A downtown home and a western Longwood address can lead to different routes. Include gates, road crossings and the last part of the trip.
Visit a park or trail near the homes
- Reiter Park, 311 Warren Avenue: playground, walking track, picnic areas, courts and an amphitheater.
- Big Tree Park trailhead, 761 General Hutchinson Parkway: Cross Seminole Trail access, restrooms and water.
- Jones Trailhead, 2993 Markham Woods Road: access to the paved Seminole Wekiva Trail.
- Wekiwa Springs State Park, 1800 Wekiwa Circle, Apopka: a public state park, separate from The Springs community. Follow its current day-use reservation rules.
These are public places, not private HOA benefits. Add errands to the same visit so you can compare your normal week.
Plan for bills and repairs
For a detached house, budget for the roof, air conditioning, yard and any pool. For a condo or village home, ask which costs the association pays. Keep any club charges separate. Check whether membership is required for the home.
Get an insurance quote and a new-owner tax estimate. I help you compare those costs with the payment, cash to close and cash left for repairs. Use the home-cost worksheet.
See local sale prices and market details. Choose the same home type and dates when you compare. Past sale prices and the dated inventory report are separate from live listings.
Set up the right services
Longwood Utility Services handles water, sewer and garbage billing where the city supplies those services. Coverage varies by address. The Springs utility FAQ names Sunshine Water Services for water and sewer in that community.
- Confirm each provider for the home.
- Set service dates to match the agreed move-in time.
- Check HOA moving and gate-access rules.
- Plan the final walkthrough and key handoff.
